Vista is an American city in San Diego County in the US state of California . According to an official estimate in 2006, it has a population of 89,891 with a population density of 1,857.3 inhabitants per km². The metropolitan area has a size of 30 miles ² and is located on California State Route 78 .
Vista was granted town charter on January 28, 1963 . Together with Oceanside and Carlsbad , it forms a metropolitan area .
