Sweet Gwendoline

Sweet Gwendoline is the main female character in the works of bondage artist John Willie and a fictional character from the field of bondage. Gwendoline appears in Willie's drawings and comics as a rather naive blonde with very feminine curves, who finds herself tied up again and again and gets from one awkward situation to the next.

In Germany , the punk band Die Ärzte published the song Sweet Sweet Gwendoline , which introduced the fictional character to sections of the population who otherwise have no connection to BDSM culture. The tickets for the 1987 tour were indexed by the federal inspection agency for media harmful to minors based on the motive . Since 1993, a skeleton version drawn by the physician graphic artist Schwarwel has been the band's mascot alongside a normal version.

The bands Umbra et Imago and ASP were also inspired to create pieces of the same name.

Film adaptations

The stories about Gwendoline served as a template for a film by Just Jaeckin under the title Gwendoline in 1984 , in which Tawny Kitaen played the role of Gwendoline.
