The Swing Entertainment Media AG (own notation: ! SWING Entert @ inment Media AG ) was up to its bankruptcy in 2003, an international producer and marketer of consoles - and PC games based in Kaarst (in Dusseldorf ).

Company history

The company was founded as SWING! Entertainment Software GmbH and was listed on the Neuer Markt in February 2000 just two years later .

Even in the days of the GmbH, the company's sales were almost exclusively generated from the secondary and third-party marketing of PC games. With the inflow of capital from the IPO, the AG increasingly commissioned new developments and ports for consoles ( Dreamcast , PlayStation , PlayStation 2 , Xbox , GameCube , Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance ) as well as for the PC. Mismanagement, high bad debt losses in connection with the demise of the main distribution partner Virgin Interactive , the collapse of the Game Boy Advance market, and coordination problems with Ubisoft in the development of the MMORPG Shadowbane , which led to considerable delays in the start of the European version, ultimately resulted in of bankruptcy.
