Ludwig Tacke

Andreas Christian Ludwig Tacke , also Louis Tacke (born December 6, 1823 in Braunschweig , † July 22, 1899 ibid), was a German architecture and history painter .

Life

Tacke attended the Brunswick Collegium Carolinum from 1838 to 1849 , where he learned landscape painting from Heinrich Brandes . He continued his training from 1849 to 1853 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Theodor Hildebrandt and then in Munich with the history painter Carl Theodor von Piloty . He made trips to Bamberg, Nuremberg and Meißen as well as to the Alpine foothills. In 1860 he returned to Braunschweig.

His work includes historical depictions of medieval Braunschweig and scenes from Braunschweig's city history ( The discovery of Henning Brabandts ). In addition, he created contemporary images of the Riddagshausen monastery church and buildings in the Braunschweig region, e.g. B.

He painted public buildings in Braunschweig and Wolfenbüttel.

The Braunschweig Municipal Museum shows numerous works by Tacke. The Ludwig Tacke exhibition there was opened on July 6, 1941.
