Sylvain Miaillier (born September 25, 1986 in Le Bourg-d'Oisans ) is a French freestyle skier . He starts in the ski cross discipline .

Career

Miaillier was an alpine ski racer at the beginning of his career . From 2001 to 2007 he mainly participated in FIS races . After the 2006/07 season he switched to the freestyle discipline of ski cross. He contested his first World Cup race in January 2008 in Les Contamines , where he finished 50th. Four days later he came in seventh place for the first time in the top ten at the World Cup race in Flaine . In the 2008/09 season he achieved three third places in the European Cup and won one. He won the ski cross discipline of the European Cup. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he finished 12th.

In the 2010/11 season Miaillier was twice in the top ten in the World Cup. At the 2011 World Championships in Deer Valley , he finished 23rd. In the following season he came three times in the top ten in nine World Cup competitions. After finishing 48th and 27th in the 2012/13 season , he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place in Åre at the end of the season. In the following 2013/14 season , the 23rd place was his best result in nine World Cup competitions in Val Thorens and Åre. After finishing 29th at the World Cup in Nakiska at the beginning of the 2014/15 season , he made it into the top ten twice at the World Cup in Val Thorens in January 2015. In the same month he also won the European Cup in Val Thorens. More top ten results in the World Cup followed. At the end of the season, he won his first World Cup on March 13, 2015 in Megève , which was enough for fifth place in the Skicross World Cup.

In the following season 2015/16 Miaillier achieved third place in the World Cup in San Candido and second place at Watles . Another second place came in December 2016 at the World Cup in Val Thorens. After a second place at the beginning of the 2016/17 World Cup season , a ninth place remained his best result.

Miaillier has taken part in 93 World Cup races so far and has been placed in the top ten 19 times (as of the end of the 2016/17 season).
