Sylvestre Nsanzimana (born January 5, 1936 in Kirago, Southern Province, Rwanda † 1999 ) was a Rwandan politician and Prime Minister of Rwanda from 1991 to 1992.

Nsanzimana was a member of the government of President Grégoire Kayibanda as Foreign Minister from 1969 to 1971 . In addition, he was at times Minister for Trade, Mining and Industry.

He later served as Deputy Secretary General of the Organization for African Unity (OAU) and Rwanda's Minister of Justice.

On October 12, 1991, President Juvénal Habyarimana appointed him Rwanda's first prime minister in over thirty years. The appointment sparked criticism of the president because he had not previously discussed the appointment with the parties. He held this office until his replacement by Dismas Nsengiyaremye on April 2, 1992. As Prime Minister he belonged to the Mouvement républicain national pour le développement . Since 1994 he lived in exile in Brussels .
