Sylvia Egli from Matt

Sylvia Egli von Matt (born September 4, 1952 ) is a Swiss journalist and media expert .

Life

Egli von Matt trained to be a primary school teacher between 1967 and 1972. In 1972 she became a stewardess at Swissair . From 1975 to 1982 she studied pedagogy, psychology and political science (lic. Phil. I) at the University of Zurich . From 1982 to 1986 Egli von Matt gained experience as a freelance journalist for various Swiss newspapers and magazines as well as the then Radio DRS . From 1988 to 1996 Egli von Matt worked as a domestic editor for the Tages-Anzeiger , where she was a correspondent for Central Switzerland with a focus on politics.

Until her resignation in March 2014, Egli von Matt was director of the MAZ - The Swiss School of Journalism . In 2010 she was the founding president of the “Quality in Journalism” association and from 2006 to 2010 she was Vice-President of the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA). Before taking up the post of MAZ director, Egli von Matt was responsible for the MAZ as head of studies for the diploma course and, among other things, built up the post-graduate journalism course, which has since been discontinued.

She is Vice-President of the Federal Media Commission (EMEK), Vice-President of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts Council, member of the Swiss Unesco Commission and ombudswoman of SWI swissinfo.ch .
