Sylvie Andrieux

Sylvie Andrieux (born December 15, 1961 in Marseille ) is a French politician . She has been a member of the National Assembly since 1997 .

Andrieux, whose father Antoine Andrieux and godmother Irma Rapuzzi were members of the Senate , joined the Parti socialiste at the age of 15 . From 1983 she worked for a company operating the port of Marseille. In 1992 she was elected to the regional council. This was followed three years later by joining the city council of Marseille. In the 1997 parliamentary elections, she also entered the National Assembly as a representative of the Bouches-du-Rhône department . In 2002, 2007 and 2012 she was confirmed as a member of parliament.

The politician was charged with embezzling 700,000 euros in state funds, which is why her immunity was lifted by the National Assembly in 2010 . Her party withdrew her support in the run-up to the 2012 elections . In the second round of the elections, she ran against a candidate from the far-right FN and was elected with almost 51 percent of the vote. After she was listed as Divers gauche during this time , she was accepted by PS again in July 2012. On May 22, 2013, she was found guilty of embezzlement in the court of first instance and sentenced to three years in prison, two of which were suspended. In addition, she was banned from voting for five years.
