Aecidium wedeliae-hispidae is a stand fungal art from the order of the rust fungi (Pucciniales). The fungus is an endoparasite of the daisy family Wedelia hispida . Symptoms of the infestation by the species are rust spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces of the host plants. She is endemic to Mexico . Since only its secondary crop form is knownso far, it is classified in the genus Aecidium .

Macroscopic features
Aecidium wedeliae-hispidae can only be recognized with the naked eye by the spore beds protruding on the surface of the host. They grow in nests that appear as yellowish to brown spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces.
Microscopic features
The mycelium of Aecidium wedeliae-hispidae grows as with all Aecidium TYPES intercellular and forms Saugfäden that grow into the storage tissue of the host. Its spermogonia grow on the upper side in small groups on the host leaves. The aecia of the species, which usually grow in small groups on the underside of the leaves, are whitish and cylindrical. Their hyaline aecidiospores are 24–40 × 13–23 µm in size, elongated to ellipsoidal and warty. The uredia of the mushroom are not known, and it is possible that they are not developed. The Telien the type have not been observed to date.

The host plant of Aecidium wedeliae-hispidae is Wedelia hispida .
