Sylvie Matherat

Sylvie Matherat (born May 6, 1962 ) is a French lawyer and political scientist . From November 1, 2015 to 2019, she was a member of the Executive Board and Chief Regulatory Officer at Deutsche Bank AG . After Ellen Schneider-Lenné , she was only the second woman to become a member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank.

In July 2019, she was fired from Deutsche Bank AG.

Career

Matherat studied public law and finance at the Institut d'Études Politique de Paris , France. She received her master's degree in law and political science.

From 1986 Matherat worked at the French central bank Banque de France . From 1986 to 1993 and from 1995 to 2007 she held various positions in the Autorité de Controle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR) of the Banque de France, including Director for Policy and International Relations and Head of the Banking Survey Division.

From 1993 to 1995 Matherat moved to the major French bank BNP Paribas as Head of the Structured Finance Department. From 1985 to 1986 she also worked at Société Générale as an Auditor on Retail and Investment Banking.

In 2007, Matherat was appointed director of financial stability by the then head of Banque de France, Christian Noyer . From 2011 she held the position of Deputy Director General of Operations. As part of this activity she was u. a. responsible for the topics of regulation and financial stability, payment and settlement infrastructure and banking services.

From March to August 2012, Matherat represented the Banque de France in the Basel III working group of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision .

In 2014 Matherat then moved to Deutsche Bank AG as Global Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs and was appointed to the Management Board as Chief Regulatory Officer in 2015.

In connection with the Panama Papers , there were reports of her impending release in 2018. In 2019 she left with a severance payment of € 9 million.

Sylvie Matherat is married and has three grown children. She lives in Frankfurt am Main.
