The synagogue in Randegg , a district of the Gottmadingen community in the district of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg , was built around 1810.

description

In addition to the prayer room, the synagogue building also had an apartment for the rabbi or the teacher and cantor . The entrance on the west side led through a small vestibule. The almemor was slightly raised and the Torah shrine had an architrave supported by two columns . Four multi-armed lamps for eight candles each hung on either side. Middle of the railing of the rostrum was a large Shabbat - menorah . The entrance to the women's gallery was next to the entrance to the rabbinical apartment. On the east side of the building was a classroom and the community library . Shortly before the First World War , the synagogue was extensively renovated.

During the November pogrom in 1938 , the synagogue was demolished by the SS - disposal troops III./Germania stationed in Radolfzell .

Commemoration

On June 9, 1968, a memorial stone with the following inscription was inaugurated in Otto-Dix-Strasse: “This is where the synagogue of the Israelite community in Randegg stood. It was destroyed on November 10, 1938 under the rule of violence and injustice ”.

In 2013/14, excavations were carried out on Synagogenplatz (GPS: 47.722,8.7535), and the foundations of the synagogue and the former mikvah were discovered. The finds were covered again to secure them. The redesign of the square was completed in August 2014.
