history
In the first half of the 19th century there was already a first synagogue of unknown year of construction in Wenings. The new synagogue was built on the site of the previous building, with stones from the previous building being reused.
In the 1920s, a memorial plaque for the Jewish fallen in World War I was placed on the west side .
During the November pogrom in 1938 , the interior of the synagogue was destroyed by arson.
After the Second World War , the ruins became the property of the Catholic parish, who converted them into a church and expanded them with two rectangular extensions to the east and west. A roof turret with a cross was also attached. On May 28, 1958, the former synagogue was consecrated as the Catholic Church to Mary, Queen of Peace .
