The synagogue in Úštěk (German Auscha ), a town in Ústecký kraj in the Czech Republic , was built in 1794. The derelict synagogue has been a protected cultural monument since 1958.

history

After the wooden synagogue fell victim to a fire in 1793, the Auscha Jewish community built a follow-up building made of local sandstone a year later . It was changed several times over the years and was used for church services until the 1930s .

The synagogue building survived the era of National Socialism almost undamaged. From the end of the 1990s, the building that now serves as a museum was renovated.
