The former synagogue in Aidhausen , a community in the Lower Franconian district of Haßberge , was built in 1869. It is located at Frankenstraße 30, the former Dorfstraße 100.

history

In the building of the synagogue built in 1869 there was also a classroom, a teacher's apartment and a ritual bath ( mikveh ).

Even before the November pogrom of 1938 , there were riots against the Jewish families in Aidhausen on October 10, 1938. The synagogue windows were also broken and some of the rituals were violated.

After 1945 the synagogue building came into private ownership and has since been used as a residential building with a workshop.

architecture

The building has been completely renovated in recent years. Externally, some notable parts of the synagogue architecture can still be recognized by the observer. On the south side there are the two original wooden doors with skylights , the separate entrances for men and women. On the gable sides (east and west façade) there is an oculus and the western gable is crowned by three acroters . Two arched windows and four arched windows are also preserved.
