The synagogue in Bad Mingolsheim in Bad Schönborn served the Jewish community of Mingolsheim , which existed from the 18th century to 1935.

A prayer room, which was located in the house of the widow Herz Sichels , is occupied by 1837 at the latest . This year, however, there were already plans to expand or build a new synagogue, as Mingolsheim counted over 50 residents of Jewish faith. Initially, however, these plans were not supported by the Bruchsal District Office.

In 1853 the community, which at that time consisted of twelve families, signed a contract to finance the construction of the synagogue, but it was not until 1882 that the foundation stone was laid for the synagogue at 25 Friedrichstrasse.

Portal with Psalm 118.20 at the synagogue in Mingolsheim

Irritating on this building is a portal inscription, which bears the year 1846 (שנת תרו = year [5] 506) next to the text of Psalm 118.20 (זה השער לה 'צדיקים יבאו בו). This part may come from a renovation of the previous prayer room and was integrated into the new building. On December 28, 1882, the Synagogue Ordinance came into force.

On April 1, 1938, the building was sold to a private individual and used as a barn from then on. Nevertheless, four SA men tried to set the building on fire during the so-called Reichspogromnacht . However, they were informed by a neighbor that the building was no longer owned by Jews and then abandoned their plans. The building has been preserved to this day, but since the construction of a neighboring property, the mentioned inscription is no longer visible from the outside.
