Synagogue in Nitra

The synagogue in Nitra , a Slovak town in the district of the same name , was built from 1908 to 1911 and used for worship until the Second World War . The profaned synagogue in the style of historicism is a protected cultural monument . It is located on Pri Synagoga Street.

The synagogue building was built according to plans by the architect Lipót Baumhorn . After extensive renovation, the building now serves as a cultural center .

Since 1992 a plaque on the synagogue building has been commemorating the Holocaust .
