Lipót tree horn
Lipót Baumhorn (Leopold Baumhorn) (born December 28, 1860 in Kisbér ; † July 8, 1932 there ) was a Jewish-Hungarian architect .
Life
Baumhorn studied with Heinrich von Ferstel at the Vienna Polytechnic . He planned and built dozens of synagogues , Jewish community facilities and private homes in the Kingdom of Hungary and in Hungary after the First World War , including the synagogue in the factory town in Timișoara and the synagogues in Novi Sad , Rijeka , Murska Sobota , Zrenjanin (destroyed by the Germans in 1941 ), Esztergom , Ujpest and in the XIII. District of Budapest . Twelve of the synagogues he built are still standing today, including the synagogue of Szeged (1903), which is considered the high point of his work.
