The synagogue in Sataniv , a Ukrainian city in Khmelnitsky Oblast , was built in 1514, making it probably the oldest synagogue in Ukraine.
history
Most sources give 1514 or 1532 as the year of construction. However, structural and style elements of the building and a comparison with the nearby monastery point to the beginning of the 17th century. This is also supported by the results of chemical tests of the mortar carried out in 1992.
In the Soviet Union , the synagogue was profaned in 1933 and used as a warehouse. Later it stood empty for many years and deteriorated more and more. The renovation began in 2012 and has now been completed.

The rib-vaulted main hall was the men's prayer room; Additions in the west and south were for women. Worth mentioning are a stone Torah shrine , a relief above the magnificently designed main entrance and frescoes .
