The Syndicat d'agglomération nouvelle Ouest Provence is a former French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Syndicat d'agglomération nouvelle in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It was founded in 1972 and comprised six parishes. The administrative seat was in Istres .

Historical development

On August 11, 1972, the municipalities of Istres and Miramas founded a municipal association with the port area of ​​Fos-sur-Mer. On December 18, 1972, the municipality of Fos-sur-Mer joined and the Syndicat communautaire d'aménagement (SCA) was founded. On July 12, 1984, the SCA was converted into a Syndicat d'agglomération nouvelle (SAN). The municipalities of Cornillon-Confoux , Grans and Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône joined this syndicate on January 1, 2003 .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the community association was integrated into the newly established Métropole d'Aix-Marseille-Provence .
