The journal Synthesis is a regularly published philosophical journal. The current editors are Otávio Bueno , Vincent F. Hendricks , Wiebe van der Hoek and Gila Sher . Honorary editor is Jaakko Hintikka , the advisory board includes logicians Johan van Benthem and Peter Gärdenfors .
Range of topics
As the subtitle “an International Journal for Epistemology, Methodology and Philosophy of Science” indicates, Synthesis primarily publishes works in the fields of epistemology , methodology and philosophy of science . The focus is on methodological problems in the natural sciences such as induction , probability , causality theory , statistics and formal logic , but also in linguistics and ethics .
The special section Knowledge, Rationality and Action contains research reports and discussions on the formal explanation of rational action.
