Syqem is a German progressive metal - band or alternative metal band from Hamburg , founded 2,001th

Band history

After several line-up changes on drums, Benjamin Shibata's temporary departure (2004–2005) and the final departure of the sampling and synthesizer specialist Christian Voss, the current lineup in 2008 was now consolidated. After many years of small club gigs (youth centers, local clubs), the band had a much greater chance of spreading their name in the metal scene from 2007 onwards.

The band was awarded the “ Schandmaul Newcomer Prize” in 2007 , had a gig at Rock am Ring in 2008 and won Sennheiser Stage Gigs in 2008 . In 2008 the band toured Holland.

The band is currently writing their first concept album, Reflection of Elephants , which was heavily inspired and shaped by Salvador Dalí's work. In the summer of 2009 the band visited Portlligat , Barcelona and Pubol in Spain to record atmospheric sounds in Dalí's house in Pubol using a field recorder , which will be featured on the 2010 album.

In 2009 the video series "Reflections" was started, which should prepare for the upcoming album. In this video series, Syqem describe their day-to-day songwriting and present pre-release versions of their upcoming album.

In July 2012, the album Reflections of Elephants was published digitally and, due to the great fan feedback, is now also being sold in physical form, as a pressed CD in a limited edition.

In 2012 Daniel and Thomas Bernath started the electronic project "The Delta Mode", with which they released their first EP "Wake Up" on Crime Kitchen in 2014. The musicians have been concentrating on their new project since 2016.

instrumentation

Syqem started in 2001 as a 7-string band, the natural further development took place in 2007 by switching to eight-string electric guitars and opened up new possibilities for two-handed tapping , but also playing in low octaves, with the bass playing the guitar lines octave in unison twice.
