Szilárd Keresztes (born July 19, 1932 in Nyíracsád , Hungary ) is bishop emeritus of the Greek Catholic diocese of Hajdúdorog .

Life

Szilárd Keresztes was born in 1932 in the Hungarian city of Nyíracsád , in the historical Szabolcs County , today's Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County .

On August 7, 1955, at the age of 23, Szilárd Keresztes was ordained a Greek Catholic priest in the United Diocese of Hajdúdorog by donating the sacrament of ordination .

Twenty years later, on January 7, 1975, at the age of 42, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Hajdúdorog. At the same time Keresztes was appointed titular bishop of Chunavia . Szilárd Keresztes received the episcopal ordination on February 8, 1975 by Bishop Imre Timkó as the main consecrator ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop Joakim Segedi and Bishop József Cserháti .

The appointment as bishop in the Greek Catholic diocese of Hajdúdorog and Apostolic Administrator in the Apostolic Exarchate Miskolc took place on June 30, 1988 at the age of 55 years.

At the episcopal ordination of his successor Fülöp Kocsis , Bishop Szilárd Keresztes himself was the main consecrator. On November 10, 2007, Szilárd Keresztes resigned his leadership duties as Bishop and Apostolic Administrator in the Diocese of Hajdúdorog at the age of 75.

All in all, Szilárd Keresztes had been bishop for 33 years and 53 years in pastoral ministry .
