Imre Timkó

Imre Timkó (born August 13, 1920 in Budapest , Közép-Magyarország region , Hungary ; † March 30, 1988 in Nyíregyháza , Hungary) was bishop of the Greek Catholic diocese of Hajdúdorog .

Life

At the age of 25, Imre Timkó was ordained priest for the United Diocese of Hajdúdorog on December 8, 1945 .

In 1975 Imre Timkó was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Hajdúdorog and at the same time Apostolic Administrator in the Miskolc Exarchate . He received his episcopal consecration on February 8, 1975, the Archbishop of Gypsaria, Joakim Segedi ; Co- consecrators were József Ijjas , Archbishop of Kalocsa , and József Bánk , Archbishop of Eger.

Imre Timko was a total of 42 years in the diocese of Hajdúdorog in pastoral active service, ibid 13 years as a Greek Catholic bishop of the diocese. Between 1952 and 1975 Imre Timkó was a professor of early Christian literature at the Roman Catholic Theological Academy (today the Theological Faculty of the Catholic University Péter Pázmány in Budapest). He died in office on March 30, 1988 at the age of 67.
