The Archparchy Hajdúdorog ( Latin Archidioecesis Haidudoroghensis ) is a Greek Catholic Archdiocese in Hungary unified with the Roman Catholic Church .

history

The Greek Catholic Archeparchy Hajdúdorog was established on June 8, 1912 as the Diocese of Hajdúdorog. The city of Hajdúdorog is located in Hajdú-Bihar County in eastern Hungary .

Pope Francis elevated the diocese to the rank of Metropolie sui iuris for the Byzantine Catholics in Hungary on March 20, 2015 . The eparchies of Miskolc and Nyíregyháza were subordinated to the archeparchy as suffragan dioceses . The Nyíregyháza Eparchy was established on the same date from the relinquishment of territory to the Hajdúdorog Archepark. The previous bishop Fülöp Kocsis was appointed the first archbishop .
