The Szpilman Award is an art prize that is awarded annually. The Szpilman Award is given for work that only exists for a moment or for a short period of time. Funding is to be given to work that consists of fleeting situations. The Szpilman Award was first presented in 2003 and has since been the only prize for ephemeral art worldwide . It is advertised publicly.

background

The Szpilman Award was launched in 2003. It is initiated, financed and organized by the German artist group Szpilman . At the beginning, the prize was advertised across Germany; in 2004 it opened up to Europe . The public interest grew and in 2006 the prize was advertised worldwide.

The jury is made up of international art experts. The previous year's winner is always a member of the jury. The winner receives a jackpot scholarship. This consists of three parts: a challenge cup , ten days of accommodation in Cimochowizna ( Poland ) including arrival and departure and a cash sum. The amount of money is dynamic. In parallel to the competition announcement, Szpilman is collecting the funds for the scholarship.
