Szybka Kolej Regionalna w Aglomeracji Górnośląskiej , in short: SKR (German literally: Regional train in the Upper Silesian agglomeration ) is currently begriffenes emerging train -like system in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region in Poland , successively from the railway company since 2009 Koleje Śląskie is established and to extend to the entire Silesian Voivodeship .

Stadler FLIRT in Tychy Miasto

The first line opened the current line S4 on December 14, 2008 on the Katowice - Tychy Miasto section. Are used currently three motor coaches of type Stadler FLIRT (in the four-part version) that travel in the rush hour every 30 minutes and tackle the 20.43 km long route within 24 minutes. Night traffic is offered on weekends. On December 12, 2010, the line was extended by three stations to Sosnowiec Główny station.

There is currently a network tariff with the Tychy transport company (but not with the trams and buses in Katowice ). An extension of this system to a the rest of the upper Silesia agglomeration comprehensive transport network is provided.

A massive expansion of the network has been progressing since 2012 to connect large parts of the Upper Silesian district (e.g. the cities of Gliwice , Zabrze and Mysłowice ), but the other S-Bahn lines are not run under the name Szybka Kolej Regionalna , but Koleje Śląskie .
