Tóra við Keldu [ ˈtɔuːɹa viː tʃɛldʊ ] (born May 27, 1974 in Klaksvík , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese swimmer and singer.

Tóra is the daughter of Jógvan við Keldu and Betty Skaale. Her older siblings are Gunvá (1966) and Pætur við Keldu (1970). In 1999 she married Eystein Elttør, with whom she has daughter Bjørt (2003). She graduated from high school in 1994, and passed the teaching examination in 1998.

Tóra was born with the handicap that her right leg is shorter than the left. As a 10-year-old she started swimming in the Klaksvíker Club Ægir . A short time later she was appointed to the squad by the Faroese Disabled Sports Association ÍSB (Ítróttarsambandið fyri Brekað). In 1985 she took part in the Nordic Championships in Finland , where her older comrade Katrin Johansen won the first gold medal at an international sporting event in the history of the Faroe Islands . This was followed by the World Cup in Sweden in 1986 , the Nordic Championships in the Faroe Islands in 1987, the Swedish Open and Paris Open . At the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul , Tóra við Keldu won three of the seven Faroese medals: silver over 100 m freestyle (1: 08.10), bronze over 400 m freestyle (5: 20.23) and 100 m butterfly (1: 23.86), respectively in class L6. She took part in the Nordic Championships in Iceland in 1989 , the 1990 World Cup in the Netherlands , the 1991 Nordic Championships in Norway and the European Championships in Spain . At the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona , Tóra við Keldu won the only medal for her country: silver in 100 m freestyle (1: 06.74). With the 1994 World Cup in Malta , she ended her sports career because she wanted to concentrate on her teacher training.

Tóra started singing in the children's choir at an early age and is now one of the well-known singers in the Faroe Islands. Their groups are called Sangkórinum í Betesda , 17 sangarar , Døgg and Suð . The latter choir consists of 16 women and is known in the Faroe Islands for its ABBA covers, but also for gospels and jazz . When her brother Pætur surprisingly got into the Danish qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 , he insisted that she be on stage with him. Together they finished 5th at the Melodi Grand Prix, which is important in Denmark .

After their wedding, Tóra við Keldu and her husband moved to Aberdeen , where they lived for two years, and later to London . But according to her own statements, nowhere is it as beautiful as on the Faroe Islands, and today she works as a teacher for English and sports at the við Ósánna elementary school in Klaksvík.
