Tórbjørn Jacobsen
Tórbjørn Jacobsen (also called Tobbi ; born October 7, 1955 in Ærøskøbing , Denmark ) is a Faroese skipper , harbor master and politician of the socialist Tjóðveldisflokkurin . He has been the acting mayor of the Runavík municipality since the beginning of 2016 .
Life
Torbjørn was born in 1955 to Arnbjørg, nee Gregersen, and Jóan Jacob F. Jacobsen in Ærøskøbing, Denmark. Both parents are from the Faroe Islands. He is married to Luffa, née Purkhús, and lives in Glyvrar on Eysturoy .
As a trained captain , Jacobsen went to sea from 1980 to 2000. From 2001 to 2004 he also represented Høgni Hoydal as one of the two Faroese MEPs in the Danish Folketing Parliament . He was a member of the state government of the Faroe Islands from 2000 to 2001 for almost a year as Minister of Culture and in 2008 as Minister of Fisheries for a good six months.
In 2012, Torbjørn Jacobsen was the voter community Almenni Listin first elected to the municipal council of Runavík. After he had been deputy mayor from the beginning of 2013 to the end of 2015, he took over the post of mayor of Runavík on January 1, 2016 from his predecessor Magnus Rasmussen. Since his appointment as mayor, he has left his job as the harbor master of Runavík on hold.
Løgting
After Tórbjørn Jacobsen had already replaced Signar á Brúnni in Løgting from 1998 to 2000 , he sat from 2002 to 2011 as a member ( Løgtingsmaður ) for Tjóðveldi in the Faroese parliament. He was also a member of numerous committees there.
Folketing
In autumn 2016 it became known that Magni Arge had decided to give up its seat in the Danish Folketing in order to work as a member of Parliament for Tjóðveldi in Løgting, Faroese. Tórbjørn Jacobsen is to take over the Folketing Seat of Magni Arge. However, Jacobsen has announced that, contrary to the party's practice of dual office, he does not intend to leave his post as mayor as a member of the Folketing, as the office in Runavík has nothing to do with Tjóðveldi. Tórbjørn Jacobsen was a member of the Folketing in Copenhagen from 2001 to 2004. At that time he represented Høgni Hoydal .
