Töddenweg

The Töddenweg (also Tüöttenweg ) is part of the E11 long-distance hiking trail , is one of the hiking trails managed by the Wiehengebirgsverband Weser-Ems and is 111 kilometers long. The Töddenweg is marked with a white "T". It is based on a centuries-old trade route of the linen merchants ( Tödden or Tüötten ) from the Tecklenburger Land , which they used to sell their home-made linen in the Netherlands.

The Töddenweg begins in Osnabrück on the market square by the town hall . In the Osnabrück region it runs along the Rubbenbruchsee to Gut Leye and on to the Attersee . Then it leads via Mettingen with its Tüötten Museum to the Mittelland Canal and arrives at Hopsten , the former center of the Tödden trade. From there it leads via Rheine and Bad Bentheim to the Dutch border. From de Lutte it reaches the city of Oldenzaal , where it ends.

The German Töddenweg, together with the Dutch Marskramerpad, forms the “trade route”, which connects in Oldenzaal and from there leads another 93 km to the Hanseatic city of Deventer .

Most of the hiking trail is also easily accessible by bike.
