Mari Törőcsik (born November 23, 1935 in Pély , † April 16, 2021 in Szombathely ) was a Hungarian actress .

Life

Törőcsik graduated from the Drama and Film School in Budapest from 1954 to 1958 , after which she played in the Hungarian National Theater (Budapest) (Nemzeti Színház) from 1958 to 1979. Other stations in her theater activity included Szolnok and Győr , and from 1989–92 she was chairwoman of the Hungarian Chamber of Acting and lecturer at the Academy of Drama and Film. From 2002 she worked again at the National Theater.

The actress became known to the general public primarily through the film. Since the 1950s she has appeared in over a hundred roles in film and television. She made her film debut in 1955 in Zoltán Fábri's Carousel in the lead role of the girl Mari. She received the Actor Award of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival twice , in 1960 for her role in Mihály Szemes ' The Cheeky Badger and in 1972 for Toter Ort by István Gaál . One of her greatest successes was the part of Julianna Géczy in Gyula Maár's TV film Frau Dery, where are you going? (1976), for which she won the Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival . In addition, she was honored with the Béla Balázs Prize in 1959 , the Mari Jászai Prize in 1964 and 1969, and the State Kossuth Prize in 1973. From 2005 the actress was an honorary citizen of Budapest .
