history

The Türnitzer Hut, the first refuge in the Lower Austrian Alps, was inaugurated on September 1, 1895 (in front of around 600 visitors, including the alpinist Heinrich Heß ). It was the first protective house to be built by the Austrian Mountain Association founded in Vienna in 1890 . A 1273 m long material ropeway has been used to supply them since 1980 .
