TD Jakes
Thomas Dexter Jakes (born June 9, 1957 in South Charleston , West Virginia , USA ) is an American entrepreneur, author, preacher and pastor The Potter's House, a megachurch of the Pentecostal movement in Dallas, Texas .

Jakes grew up in Vandalia , rural West Virginia, where he attended a Baptist church . He began preaching as a young man. In 1981 he pastored a small Pentecostal church called Emanuel Temple of Faith in Montgomery . Under his leadership, the community grew and relocated to Smithers and South Charleston. Sherman Watkins, a Pentecostal leader, ordained him pastor. In distance learning he completed his Bachelor and Master at Friends International Christian University in 1990; In 1995 he received his doctorate in religious studies at the same university. In 1990 he began working with women who were badly affected by life.
In 1996, Jakes moved with his family and team to Dallas , where he took over a large parish that he named The Potter's House (TPH). A campus with a worship hall with 5,000 seats and 30,000 weekly visitors is now part of it. Some of his events also take place at Lakewood Church in Houston . He is friends with the preachers Joel Osteen , Victoria Osteen and Joyce Meyer , with whom he regularly organizes events and publishes.
In 2016 he started his TD Jakes show, where he welcomes and interviews guests. Every week his lectures are broadcast worldwide, his program is in Europe and the like. a. received via God TV .
