TK Sribhashyam

TK Sribhashyam (* 1940 in Mysore ; † November 12, 2017 in Nice ) was an internationally known yoga teacher and the youngest son of T. Krishnamacharya and brother of TKV Desikachar . He lived in France with his wife Claire and their two children.

Live and act

TK Sribhashyam was born in 1940 as the youngest son of T. Krishnamacharya in Mysore. His mother, Srimathi T. Namagiriammal, is the older sister of Jaya Lakshmi, who is the wife of BKS Iyengar . His father taught yoga in Mysore at the court of the Maharaja of Mysore. In 1956 he moved with his father to Chennai, where he studied Indian philosophy at Chennai University . At the same time he was introduced to yoga philosophy and yoga practice such as asanas and pranayama , as well as Ayurveda, from his father . In 1970 he went to Europe and began teaching yoga and Ayurveda in the tradition of his father. In 1982 he founded the Swiss Neuchatel school Yogakshemam where Indian philosophy, yoga and Ayurveda is taught. Seven years later he founded the Association Yogakhemam in France, which trains yoga teachers in several European countries. In 1999 he received a Masters in Philosophy from the Institute for Higher Sanskrit Studies in Mysore. He is also an honorary member of the International Yoga Federation and the World Yoga Council .

Has become known Sribhashyam mainly by the film The breathing God of Jan Schmidt-Garre , in which the life's work is documented his father. He also published books, partly together with his older sister Alamelu Sheshadri.
