Karl Hess (politician)

Karl Friedrich Christian Hess (born December 14, 1798 in Gießen ; † May 5, 1835 ibid) was a Hessian lawyer and liberal politician and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Karl Hess was the son of the real secret councilor Karl Georg Philipp Hess (1765-1829) and his wife Christine, née Müller (1773-1851). Hess, who was Protestant, married on August 16, 1826 Friederike Charlotte Amalie Sophie née Balser (1806–1846).

Hess studied law at the University of Giessen from 1815 and completed his studies in 1818 with a doctorate in law. jur. et phil. from. In 1817 he became court clerk in Gießen and in 1820 assessor at the Butzbach judicial office. From 1826 he was court attorney and procurator in Gießen.

From 1832 to 1834 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was first elected for the constituency of Oberhessen 13 / Gedern-Ortenberg and then for the city of Gießen .
