T2D

With the T2-62, the development of the two-axle tram cars of VEB Waggonbau Gotha came to an end. In 1965 the decision was made that only Tatra cars would be procured from Czechoslovakia . The COMECON resolutions officially ceased tram construction in Gotha. Since the Tatra type T4D / B4D, specially developed for the GDR, was only available from 1969, the T2-62 and B2-62 continued to be built in Czechoslovakia as the T2D and B2D until 1968. However, these were built exclusively in meter gauge design. In 1969 a further 65 sidecars were built from residual assemblies in Gotha, now again for standard gauge .
