TBK (health insurance)
The TBK ( Thuringian Company Health Insurance Fund ) was a company health insurance fund that was open for Saxony and Thuringia . On January 1, 2020, it merged with the BKK Verkehrsbau Union .
history
On August 1, 1992, three company-related health insurance funds were opened at the three energy supply companies in Thuringia after a coordination process between the employees:
- BKK ENAG - BKK der Energieversorgung Nordthüringen AG based in Erfurt
- BKK OTEV - BKK of Ostthüringer Energieversorgung AG based in Jena
- BKK SEAG - BKK of Südthüringer Energieversorgung AG based in Meiningen
On January 1, 1994, these three health insurance companies merged to form the BKK of Thuringian Energy Supply, based in Erfurt. This closed company health insurance fund was only accessible to the employees of the sponsoring companies. In 1997 there was a merger with BKK Chema-Balcke-Dürr Verfahrenstechnik from Rudisleben . Because of the spin-off of the Thuringian public utility company, the BKK opened up for all of Thuringia and later Saxony. On January 1st, 2015 the name was changed from BKK der Thüringer Energieversorgung to TBK ( Thuringian Company Health Insurance Fund ). From 2015 to 2018, the TBK had to levy an income-related additional contribution of 0.8 percent of the contributory income, in 2019 of 0.9 percent.
Self-management
The board of directors of TBK consisted of 10 representatives of the insured and 2 representatives of the employers. When resolutions were passed, the employer representatives had the same number of votes as the voting insured representatives present. The chairmanship of the Board of Directors alternated annually between the representatives of the insured and the representatives of the employers.
