Wolfgang Michal

Wolfgang Michal (born January 31, 1954 in Dachsbach ) is a German author and journalist .

Life

Michal grew up in Würzburg and went to the X-ray high school in Würzburg . In 1974/75 he graduated from the German School of Journalism and then studied political science , education and communication science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1981 he completed his studies with a master's degree .

From 1982 to 1986 he worked as an editor and reporter for the social democratic weekly newspaper Vorwärts in Bonn. In 1988 he moved to the Hamburg reportage magazine GEO in the same position . Since 1999 he has worked as a freelance writer for various magazines, newspapers, radio and online publications.

In 2008, he and other authors founded the professional association of freelance journalists, Freischreiber e. V .; In 2010 Magda, the “magazine of authors” followed.

Michal was co-editor of the multi-author blog Carta from May 2010 to September 2014 . Since April 2011 he has been running a blog with a focus on “upheavals and developments”.

Michal lives in Salzhausen , around 40 km south of Hamburg .
