TFM is a publishing company from Frankfurt am Main founded by Teo Ferrer de Mesquita .

history

The publicist Teo Ferrer de Mesquita fled to Germany for political reasons from the Portuguese dictatorship of the Estado Novo . After the Carnation Revolution , general interest in Portugal grew in Germany, and he became involved in various cultural activities (readings, concerts, film series). In 1980 he founded the Center for Literature and Music from the Lusophone-Speaking Area in the form of a bookshop specializing exclusively in Portuguese-language literature and music. The publishing house TFM followed in 1982 .

The TFM publishing house is characterized by a literary and scientifically demanding program (pedagogy, history, linguistics, etc.). As evidence, published authors such as u. a. The original concern of the publisher is to this day the dissemination of knowledge about literature and culture of the Portuguese-speaking area. In addition to publishing and distribution, TFM operates the non-commercial Nova Cultura, a bibliographic information service for literature and music from the Portuguese-speaking countries of the CPLP , under the direction of the literary critic and translator Michael Kegler .
