TJ Parker

Terence Jonathan "TJ" Parker (born May 16, 1984 in Valenciennes ) is a French basketball coach and former player.

career

Parker, whose from the United States originating father played as a professional basketball player in France, is the brother of Tony Parker . As a teenager, he moved to his father's home country and played basketball and soccer at Lisle High School in the US state of Illinois . In 2002 he took part in the European Championship for this age group with the French U18 national team. From 2002 to 2005 he was a development player on the college team of Northwestern University in Illinois and played 88 games in which he was 86 times in the starting line-up and scored an average of 10 points and 3 assists per game. He then played from 2005 to 2010 in the top French league, theLigue Nationale de Basket : 2005 to 2007 with Paris Basket Racing , 2007 to 2009 with SLUC Nancy and in the 2009/10 season with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne . In 2008 he was national champion with Nancy. Parker had to retire as a player from competitive sports due to knee problems and was then still in the squad of third division Orchies.

In 2013 Parker became assistant coach at ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, his brother Tony was then vice-president of the club (and later became president). When ASVEL split from head coach JD Jackson in mid-January 2018, TJ Parker took over the post temporarily until the end of the 2017/18 season and then worked again as an assistant coach, this time under Zvezdan Mitrovic . In mid-June 2020, Parker was promoted to head coach at ASVEL.
