Lists on the subject |
The TKB-O146 - assault rifle ( ". Tula Design Office No. 146" "Tulskoje Konstruktorskoje Bjuro Obrasez 146", or) was the weapon designer Igor Stechkin in Tula , Russia, the ZKIB-SOO, a subsidiary of the design office for Instrument- designed.
Development of this weapon began in August 1981: it was to become the successor to the AK-74 rifle as part of the Abakan project .
The TKB-O146 assault rifle is designed in bullpup configuration. To compensate for the main disadvantage of this configuration - the fact that the cartridge cases can cause irritation because the ejection opening is closer to the shooter's face - the ejection opening was relocated to the underside of the weapon, as was later on the Belgian P90 . This made it easier for left-handed people to use the rifle , as did quick shoulder changes when shooting from cover.
The rifle is a gas operated and can be operated in two-shot mode, since the theoretical cadence is about 2,000 rounds per minute, the shooter feels the recoil until after the second bullet has left the barrel, which increases the accuracy. The rifle can also fire continuously.
The entire frame of the weapon is made of polymer and fiberglass (an absolute novelty at the time), while the handle is hollow, which should reduce weight; but the weight of 4 kilograms was criticized in the tender and although the TKB-O146 was probably the "Abakan" candidate with the highest accuracy and range, it could not win the tender and later did not find any buyers. The project was abandoned in 1994, so the rifles are very rare.
