The TSG International AG , based in Zurich is a Swiss manufacturer of helmets and protectors for the action sports such as skateboarding , mountain biking , BMX , snowboarding , skiing and wakeboarding . The company was founded in 2005 when Ruedi Herger took over the TSG brand from the German Titus Dittmann GmbH .

history

Until 1988, schooners or helmets for skateboarding were mostly built by themselves. In 1988 the German company TSG was founded with the aim of producing helmets and protectors for the skateboard scene.

In the following years, various materials and production methods were tested before the production of protectors and protective helmets began. With the help of some Vert Skateboarders, helmets were developed, the appearance of which was also accepted by the scene.

TSG soon became known outside of Germany. In 1996 NHS ( Santa Cruz , Independent, Krux etc.) took over the distribution and license in the USA. This also made skateboarders like Rune Glifberg , Buster Halternmann , Mike Vallely and Tony Hawk customers of TSG.

TSG was also the first company to meet the requirements for the American quality seal CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission). This is a state test in which helmets for sports are checked for their durability.

For the graphic design of the helmets, both for "signature helmets" and for the so-called "company helmets", TSG used designs from the skate brands Alien Workshop , Zero , Foundation, Element, Santa Cruz , Flip or Toy Machine .

In 2005 Ruedi Herger und Partner took over the TSG brand from Titus AG. They found TSG International AG and opened their headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

Since then, the product portfolio of the TSG brand has been expanded and in addition to protective clothing for skateboarders , TSG today also offers a comprehensive line of protection for mountain bikers , snowboarders and skiers .

Today TSG has partners all over the world and is sold in Europe as well as in the USA , Canada , Australia , New Zealand , South America , the United Arab Emirates , Russia , China and Japan .

Products

TSG manufactures helmets and protectors for action sports. When it comes to helmets, the Swiss are best known for their half-shell helmets. There are protectors from neck to toe for skateboarders, mountain bikers and BMX riders as well as for winter sports enthusiasts. TSG also makes helmets and protectors especially for children. Since 2014 there has been a clothing line for mountain bikes and ski goggles.

technology

TSG International develops helmets that are adapted to the shape of the head. The so-called snug fit enables the brand to manufacture helmets whose sides are more rounded and therefore lie close to the head. TSG was the first manufacturer to offer a flexible EPS inner shell in 2010 with the FlexTech system in the octopus helmet. The inner shell consists of several segments that are connected to one another by a flexible suspension system. This means that the helmet adapts to different head shapes. TSG has a patent on the shape and arrangement of the ventilation holes on their Evolution helmet.

The Swiss brand worked with the British manufacturer for the elastomeric polymer damping material D3O until 2016 . Most of the schooners and protectors were equipped with D3O foam. TSG has been using ACF (Arti-Lage) foam since 2017.

Sponsorship

The value of an international team had already been recognized in Germany in 1999 and, by 2004, top European drivers such as Jürgen Horrwart (Germany), Terence Bougdour ( France ), Sascha Müller (Germany), Giorgio Zattoni ( Italy ) and Jocke Olsson ( Sweden ) brought into the team. At the beginning of 2004, TSG parted with the American licensee NHS and took all marketing and international distribution into their own hands. The team works on the development of new products. Each product is developed and tested together with the team before it is launched.

TSG is also involved in various sporting events and tours, such as the FISE World Series and the World Rookie Tour
