TT 3 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TT 3 (also generically Class 3 or Class 3 ) is a starting class of the Paralympic sports for athletes in table tennis .

The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

“The player has no trunk control, depending on the severity of the injury to the spine, minimal motor impairments of the hitting hand can occur, but this damage is not severe enough to influence one of the hitting techniques known in table tennis. Slight changes in the position of the trunk are secured by holding, pushing or supporting the wheelchair or the thigh with the free hand. The lower part of the torso remains in contact with the back of the chair. Backward arm movements are restricted due to the lack of torso rotation. In most cases, conscious movements of the wheelchair are not possible. "

The class division indicates the degree of functional physical disability of an athlete that is relevant for table tennis competitions . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers. Athletes with class numbers 1–5 start sitting (wheelchair), athletes with class numbers 6–11 standing.
