TVR 1 ( Romanian Televiziunea Română 1 ) is the most important public television broadcaster in Romania , which belongs to Televiziunea Română .

The most important program of the television station is called Jurnalul TVR , the motto of the program is “Jurnalul aşa cum ar trebui să fie!” (German: “The news as it should be!”). This slogan was created as a deliberate demarcation from the allegedly poor quality news broadcasts from other Romanian television stations.
In 2017, TVR 1 was in 8th place in Romania with an average of 95,000 viewers a day.
TVR 1 broadcasts weekly magazines in Hungarian ( Kronika ) and German ( Akzente and Magazin în limba germană ) with Romanian subtitles for the Romanian minorities . Both programs are also broadcast twice a month worldwide on TVR International .
