Tabakmühle is a district of the municipality Stadlern in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The building of the desert tobacco mill is located in the valley of the Schnabellohrbach , an upper course of the Hüttenbach southwest of Stadlern. The tobacco mill is, counted from Stadlern, the second mill on Schnabellohrbach (above: Stadlermühle ). Stadlern is around 2 kilometers away by road.

history

The tobacco mill was first mentioned in writing in 1809. The Bavarian original cadastre shows the tobacco mill in the 1810s with a stove. About 50 m to the north, the Schnabellohrbach has been dammed into a mill pond of about 1000 m² . At that time, tobacco was an important commodity in Stadlern. There was a tobacco factory there that made tobacco boxes as a specialty. Today the tobacco mill is no longer permanently inhabited, but serves as a holiday home and weekend home . The east adjoining about 2.5  hectares large Mühlwiesen now serve as a sewage treatment plant the town of Stadlern.
