Tacitus is an impact crater on the front of the moon west of Mare Nectaris , east of Almanon crater and southeast of Abulfeda . The crater rim is moderately eroded, the crater floor uneven with concentric structures.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman historian Tacitus .
