Tadeusz Machl (born October 22, 1922 in Lviv ; † August 31, 2003 in Kraków ) was a Polish composer, organist and music teacher.

Machl had been taking piano lessons from the age of 10 and was a student of Helena Kasparek at the music school in his hometown . His plans to study at the Moscow Conservatory were hampered by the outbreak of the German-Soviet War in 1941. In the following years he took part in underground concerts in Lemberg, where he a. a. Edward Statkiewicz , Andrzej Hiolski , Franciszek Bedlewicz and Romuald Cyganik accompanied on the piano.

From 1944 to 1947 he was organist at the St. Elisabeth Church, then until 1950 at the Corpus Christi Church in Krakow. From 1947 to 1951 he studied composition with Artur Malawski , instrumentation with Feliks Wrobel and organ with Bronisław Rutkowski at the Cracow State Music Academy . From 1950 to 1954 he worked for the music publisher Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne in Krakow.

From 1952 to 1998 Machl taught composition and instrumentation at the State Music Academy in Cracow. In addition, between 1967 and 1973 he was first dean of the Faculty of Music Theory, Composition and Conducting and later Vice Rector of the Krakow Music Academy . From 1982 to 1986 and from 1999 he also taught at the Jagiellonian University . From 1979 to 1983 he directed the Association of Amateur Choirs and Orchestras of Cracow. He was also active in the Polish Composers' Union and from 1976 to 1979 a member of the Council for Higher Music Education of the Polish Ministry of Culture.

Machl's compositions include large orchestral works (including six symphonies) as well as chamber music works, instrumental concerts, cantatas, a requiem and church music. Among other things, he was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit (1965), prizes from the Ministry of Culture (1971 and 1990) as well as the Knight's Cross (1972) and the Officer's Cross (1988) of the Polonia Restituta Order.
