The Day of the German-speaking Community ( French Jour de la Communauté Germanophone ; Dutch Dag van de Duitstalige Gemeenschap ) is a public holiday of the German-speaking Community of Belgium . It has taken place on November 15th every year since 1990 . The date is congruent with the Belgian feast day of the king (formerly the day of the dynasty ), since the German-speaking population, according to the then Prime Minister Joseph Maraite ( CSP ) and the council resolution of October 1, 1990, “is a minority under the very special care of the head of state«Wanted to go.

At the same time, this decree also adopted the shape and appearance of the coat of arms and the flag.

From 2005 to 2013 the central festive event took place in one of the nine municipalities of the German-speaking Community, alternating every year. Numerous concerts enriched the festival character. In 2014 the concept was renewed. Since then, the ceremony for DG Day, organized by the Parliament of the German-speaking Community, has always taken place in Heidberg Monastery in Eupen . This is supplemented by a reception by the government of the German-speaking Community , which, as before, takes place at the Representation of the German-speaking Community of Belgium in Brussels , and a folk festival as part of the home games of AS Eupen , for which clubs and volunteers receive reduced admission.
