Taihō (era)

Taihō ( Japanese 大 宝 , also Daihō) is a Japanese era ( Nengō ) from May 701 to June 704 according to the Gregorian calendar . The previous era name is Shucho , the following era is called Keiun . The era falls during the reign of the Emperor ( Tennō ) Mommu .

The first day of the Taihō era corresponds to May 3, 701, the last day was June 15, 704. The Taihō era lasted four years or 1140 days.

The naming of the government currencies (Nengō) was not used consistently at the beginning and overlaps with the reigns of the Tennō .
