Takako Shirai ( Japanese白井貴 子, Shirai Takako ; born July 18, 1952 in Okayama ) is a Japanese volleyball player .
Career
Shirai played as an outside attacker in the Japanese national team , with which she won the silver medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and the gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . She also became world champion in 1974 and won the world cup in 1977 .
Shirai played for Kurabo Kurashiki from 1968 to 1972 and won the Asian Games with the team in 1970 . From 1973 to 1977 she won the Japanese championship five times in a row with Hitachi Musashi and won the 1974 Asian Games .
Shirai has received numerous individual awards at various national and international competitions (“Most Valuable Player” ( MVP ), “Best Attacker” etc.). In 2000 she was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".
