KK Takara Tomy ( Japanese 株式会社 タ カ ラ ト ミ ー , Kabushiki kaisha Takara Tomī , English Tomy Company, Ltd. ) is a toy manufacturer headquartered in Katsushika , Tokyo . According to its own information, the company is the fourth largest toy manufacturer in the world. Tomy's best-known articles include the “ Beyblade ” dueling top, “ Thomas, the little locomotive ” licensed articles and the clack pirate .

The Takara Tomy company was created on March 1, 2006 from the merger of KK Takara ( 株式会社 タ カ ラ ) and KK Tomy ( 株式会社 ト ミ ー ). Since Tomy was a well-known brand of preschool products internationally, while Takara's products were marketed internationally by other companies such as Hasbro , the company's international name was Tomy Company, Ltd. elected.

The company was founded in 1955 in Takaramachi, Katsushika, Tokyo as YK Satō Vinyl Kōgyōsho ( 有限会社 佐藤 ビ ニ ー ル 工業 所 , Yūgen-gaisha Satō binīru kōgyōsho , dt. "Kunststoffgewerbe Satō GmbH"). In 1959 it was reorganized as a joint stock company KK Satō Vinyl Kōgyōsho ( 株式会社 佐藤 ビ ニ ー ル 工業 所 , Kabushiki-gaisha Satō binīru kōgyōsho ). In the next few years it was renamed several times - first in 1960 in KK Takara Vinyl Kōgyōsha ( 株式会社 宝 ビ ニ ー ル 工業 所 , Kabushiki-gaisha Takara binīru kōgygōsho ), in the following year the name Takara was written in Katakana ( 株式会社 タ カ ラ ビ ニ 所ー ル 工業 工業 ニ 所 , Kabushiki-gaisha Takara binīru kōgygōsho ); In 1966 the company traded as KK Takara ( 株式会社 タ カ ラ ).
From 1984 the shares were publicly traded, in 1986 Takara rose to the 2nd division ("medium-sized companies") and 1991 to the 1st division ("large companies") of the Tokyo Stock Exchange .
Story Tomy
Tomy was founded in 1924 by Eiichirō Tomiyama ( 富山 栄 市 郎 ) in Nishisugamo, Toshima , Tokyo as Tomiyama Omocha Seisakujo ( 富山 玩具 製作 所 , dt. "Toy manufacture Tomiyama"). In 1925 the company moved to Taihei, Honjo (now part of Sumida ), Tokyo, and in 1927 to Terajima, Mukaijima (now part of Sumida), Tokyo.
A reorganization of the company changed it to the limited partnership G.K. Tomiyama Kōjō ( 合資 会 社 富山 工場 , Gōshi-gaisha Tomiyama kōjō ) around. In 1941 Taiyō Mokkōjō ( 太陽 木工 場 , dt. "Sun sawmill") was founded in Tateishi, Katsushika, Tokyo.
1952 called the company in GK San'yō Omocha Seisakujō ( 合資 会 社 三陽 玩具 製作 所 , German "three-sun toy production") and reorganized in the following year as a joint stock company San'yō Kōgyō KK ( 三陽 工業 株式会社 ) . In 1959 the sales branch Tomiyama Shōji KK became independent as ( 富山 商 事 株式会社 ), and in 1963 there was again a renaming from San'yō Kōgyō KK to Tomy Kōgyō KK ( ト ミ ー 工業 株式会社 ) and from Tomiyama Shōji KK to Tomy KK ( ト ミ ー 株 式会 社 ).
In 1968 the headquarters burned down and in 1969 it was relocated to Tateishi. 1989 merged Tomy Kōgyō KK with the former sales department Tomy KK to KK Tomy ( 株式会社 ト ミ ー ).
Subsidiaries were established in 1970 in Hong Kong ( Tomy (Hong Kong) Ltd. ), 1982 in the United Kingdom ( Tomy UK Ltd. ), 1985 in France ( Tomy France SARL. ), 1987 in Thailand ( Tomy (Thailand) Ltd. ) and 2004 in the People's Republic of China ( Tomy (Shenzhen) Ltd. and Tomy (Shanghai) Ltd. ).
